On Nov. 25th an FTO Development team traveled to the remote village of Ban Huay Pah Dam, in the Tak province of Thailand, to install a set of solar panels on the roof of the community church.
The team set off from Chiang Mai split between three trucks, equipped with the tools and technology to offer sustainable power to a church in Ban Huay Pah Dam. It was an 8 hour drive to the small village, and half of that commute was spent on rough and engaging dirt roads that cross rivers, ridges, and valleys. Members of the development team arrived in the dark and immediately began the installation. 9 solar panels were hoisted onto the roof and secured by a few volunteers, while others labored inside the church to install the electrical breaker panel and several light fixtures. Several volunteers also ran a short community event for the children of the village, playing a film about Jesus Christ for them and distributing snacks to end the night.
The following morning, the FTO development team ended their time in Ban Huay Pah Dam by meeting with leaders of the church. This village was warm and welcoming to the team of volunteers, and church leaders gifted stitched bags to the team before they left. These community leaders thanked our local cordinators who made this trip possible, and talked about a potential follow-up FTO visit to the village.
Thanks and God bless,
the FTO team.
